Mother’s Day Bouquet!

This is my Mother’s Day craft I make for my moms every year!

It’s simple, personal, lasting (these flowers won’t die 😁), and won’t put a dent in your teacher salary 😉!

Here’s how to make it!

Surprise surprise this craft begins with a trip to…you guessed it…DOLLAR TREE!!!!!! 😀

Dollar tree always has these little pots of artificial flowers that are perfect.

There are a couple different kinds I’ve used in the past just based on store supply.

If you can’t find something like this already pre-made, you can make one super easy by getting little pots or vases, fill them with sand, glass beads, pretty rocks etc. and adding some flowers (all these things are also sold at Dollar tree 🙂 )

Next, get some really good handprints in whatever color you think goes well with the flowers you have…

… a great smiling close up 😁…

…and two green pipe cleaners.

Hot glue or tape half a pipe cleaner to the back of each handprint.

Cut out a flower shape of construction paper, glue the face in the center…

…and add the remaining pipe cleaner to the back.

I just made this one quick at home with a past student’s picture – gotta keep this year’s secret because I know the mom reads my blog 😄😂

To get a good flower shape and make sure the picture fits, I always use powerpoint. I’ll do an image search on Google for a flower outline I like, and paste it in the powerpoint. Next I paste the kiddos’ pictures in the powerpoint. Then I insert a circle, size it to fit the flower center, then move it over the kiddo’s face, resizing the picture until it fits perfectly inside the circle. Print it out and you can use the flower shape to trace and cut a flower, and just cut on the circle outline to get the kiddo’s face perfectly sized!

Now depending on what kind of flower pot you have, you may need to improvise on this next step. I definitely had to MacGyver my way through this part each year lol

To insert the pipe cleaner stems you can either press them into position if the pot is full of foam, sand, or anything else that will hold it up alone, or you can use a ribbon or string to tie around the pipe cleaner stems and the flower stems, fastening them together in place. (If the stems are still pretty wobbly a nice piece of duct tape covered with a burlap ribbon will work nicely too 😄)

Lastly, print out this cute little poem…

…put a hole on the top with a hole punch…

…and attach with some twine or ribbon.

Voila!

Cuteness has been created 🥰

Hope you, and your moms, enjoy!

Happy Mother’s Day!
