I love simple framed painting activities because the kiddos can go to town however they want. Then you can pull off the frame and delight them with the surprise they’ve created!
You can download the heart frame here…
…and I found this cute heart sponge at dollar tree.
You can use any kind of sponge or even just fingerpaint, but for Valentine’s Day I thought adding the heart shape would tie everything together!
Print out the frame (cardstock is best so it doesn’t rip or get wrinkly when covered in paint).
Cut out the center so there’s a heart shaped hole and tape it down over whatever paper you want to paint on.
And for Valentine’s Day, you can easily add a math component by including this simple math equation:
Red + White = Pink!
As they mix the colors up they get to experience the making of pink first hand!
This friend really loved squishing the sponge as hard as he could 🙂
You can just see the passion and strength in his squishing technique 😀
The final product is always so unique and can be used lots of ways!
I usually cut them out and either hang them on the wall or turn them into a Valentine’s Day card.
One idea I did not do this year but turns out really cute is adding their handprints with white paint on top of the heart!
Happy painting!
